The character of Perth
The centre sits compactly between the Tay and the two Inch parks, with South Street and the High Street pedestrianised in the middle of town. Tay Street along the river runs one-way through much of the centre, and the bridges are the main pinch points at commuter times. Scone Palace and the racecourse, just north of the city, are easy to reach directly, and cars can generally wait close to both.
- High Street and South Street are pedestrianised — cars wait on the surrounding cross streets.
- Scone Palace and the racecourse allow direct kerbside access outside event peaks.
- Tay Street runs one-way; the return route from the centre differs from the approach.
- Whisky-touring days are planned with a fixed number of stops agreed before departure.
