The character of Guildford
The one-way system around Onslow Street, Bridge Street and the ring road is the main complication, sending through traffic on a loop that adds several minutes if you take the wrong exit. The High Street itself is cobbled, pedestrianised at its lower end and largely closed to cars. Guildford station's forecourt handles a steady flow of taxis and pickups, and the multi-storey car parks off Woodbridge Road are the more reliable place to hold.
- The one-way system around Onslow Street catches first-time visitors; we plan the approach in advance.
- Guildford's cobbled High Street is largely closed to cars; the car holds at the station instead.
- Guildford station forecourt is busy at peak times; we often use London Road instead for a quieter pickup.
- The Research Park and the university have their own site roads; a building name speeds the meet.
