The character of Aberdeen
Union Street carries the main east-west flow through the centre, with Guild Street and the bus station busy at commuter times and the harbour approach often held up by port traffic. Union Terrace Gardens and Golden Square sit close enough to walk, but a car for the West End or Bridge of Don needs the AWPR to avoid the city centre entirely. Kerbside waiting is easiest on the side streets off Union Street rather than on it.
- Union Street kerbside is tight at peak times — cars hold on a side street off Belmont Street.
- Harbour-area pickups depend on port traffic and vessel schedules on the day.
- Bridge of Don and Altens offices allow direct kerbside collection outside shift-change hours.
- Dyce and the airport road are best avoided at North Sea shift-change times.
