Arriving at a college
Trinity, St John's and Gonville & Caius are approached from Trinity Street, which is closed to most traffic during the day. The realistic set-down for all three is on Bridge Street near the Round Church, or on Jesus Lane, with a short walk in. For King's, Clare and Trinity Hall, the Backs side is reached from Queen's Road, and that is often the calmer option.
South of the centre, Pembroke, Peterhouse and Downing sit on Trumpington Street, which carries traffic but offers very limited stopping. Emmanuel and Christ's are served from St Andrew's Street and Drummer Street. Selwyn, Newnham and Robinson are easier again, with usable kerbside on Sidgwick Avenue and Grange Road.
Porters' lodges vary in what they permit. Some will lift a barrier for a few minutes on a booked arrival; most will not during full term. We ask which college you are visiting and confirm the stopping point in writing before the car sets off, so the arrival is settled rather than negotiated at the gate.
