Getting there from London
Most people would pick the M1, leaving at junction 10 or 10a for the A1081 Airport Way. From six to nine in the morning, though, commuters pack the southern stretch of the M1 around junctions 6 to 8, and the drive takes longer as a result.
If you're coming from the City or the east, the better line is often the A1(M) to junction 4, then cutting across on the A414 or A505, and that's truer still when the M1 has problems. You cover more miles but in many cases spend less time doing it.
For the last part, Airport Way climbs up to the airport and goes past the terminal roundabout. Anyone heading for business aviation has to turn off before the main forecourt, so a chauffeur who's new to Luton will end up following the wrong signs.
