Reaching the old town
The best working collection points are on Park Row, Romney Road and the lower end of King William Walk, all within a short walk of the market and the college gates. Crooms Hill and Maze Hill climb steeply and narrow as they rise, so a car meeting a client from one of those addresses will usually stop at the junction rather than partway up the slope.
Greenwich Market is entirely pedestrian and the streets around it fill with visitors from late morning on a weekend. A car cannot be brought to a market entrance. We agree a point on Nelson Road or beside St Alfege Church instead, both of which are two or three minutes away on foot and considerably faster in practice.
The town centre also sits on a coach route to the main visitor attractions, which adds pressure at the same hours. Journeys through the centre between eleven and four on a Saturday are given more time than the distance suggests.
