Richmond Park and its gates
The park is the largest of the royal parks and carries a twenty mile an hour limit throughout. Vehicle gates close at dusk and open in the morning, and the closing time moves through the year, so a route that works in July does not work in December. Chauffeurs plan around the published times rather than arriving to find Richmond Gate shut.
Free-roaming deer are a genuine driving consideration, particularly at dawn and dusk and during the autumn rut. Speed inside the park is low by necessity. For journeys between Richmond and Kingston or Roehampton, cutting through the park is sometimes faster and sometimes considerably slower, and the chauffeur will make that judgement on the day.
The park is also used for events, and Sheen Gate and Roehampton Gate both congest on event mornings. Where a client is attending, we agree a set-down point in advance rather than joining a queue at the nearest entrance.
