Silence as a specification
Around town, no saloon in the group has a quieter cabin, thanks to acoustic glass, active noise management and an engine that isn't there to vibrate. Under thirty miles an hour, the climate fan tends to be the loudest thing you hear, and crawling through stop-start traffic sends no shudder at all into the seat frame.
Things change once you're on the motorway. There's no engine note covering them up, so tyre roar and wind noise take over as the main sources. By any fair standard the car stays quiet, yet once you pass sixty its advantage over a well-specified petrol flagship shrinks by a good deal.
