The seafront and where to arrive
Hotels along Kings Road and the Hove side of the front have set-down arrangements that vary building by building. Some have a lay-by, some expect a brief stop in a bus lane outside its operating hours, and some are best served from the street behind. We establish which applies before the journey rather than at the door.
For the Palace Pier, the Sea Life corner and the Aquarium terraces, Madeira Drive is the natural approach when it is open, and it is regularly closed for events. The Old Steine and Grand Junction Road are the alternatives, though both are busy for most of the day.
The Royal Pavilion, the Dome and the Brighton Museum sit inside the Pavilion Gardens with no vehicle access at all. Church Street, New Road and the Old Steine edge are the workable stopping points, and the walk from any of them takes a couple of minutes.
