The character of Trafalgar Square
The square's north terrace is pedestrian only, and the roads around it carry a mix of tourist coaches, taxis and ceremonial traffic that behaves differently depending on the day. Whitehall closes for state occasions and major parades with little warning, and the Mall does the same for royal events. We generally hold on a side street off Northumberland Avenue or Cockspur Street, away from the busiest tourist crossings.
