The character of Waterloo
The main station forecourt on York Road is a short-stay taxi rank rather than somewhere a private car can wait, so we generally hold on Sutton Walk or Concert Hall Approach instead. Waterloo Road itself is wide and mostly free-flowing outside peak hours, in contrast to the tighter streets around Lower Marsh. Waterloo Bridge gives a fast, reliable crossing to the West End when the river itself is the quickest route.
