Where a car can actually stop
Piccadilly, forming the northern edge of the district, is a red route where stopping is prohibited throughout the controlled hours. Nothing is gained by attempting a collection there. Instead we work from the quieter side streets: St James's Place, Bury Street, Duke Street St James's and Ryder Street all offer short, workable pauses, and the chauffeur will name the one that suits your address before the day.
Pall Mall and St James's Street carry constant traffic and frequent event closures, particularly when there is a ceremonial movement on The Mall. Trooping the Colour, state visits and remembrance events all reroute traffic across the whole of SW1A at short notice. When a closure is published, the pickup point moves rather than the pickup time.
For addresses on Jermyn Street, where loading restrictions and narrow footways leave very little room, we normally suggest meeting on Duke of York Street or at the Piccadilly end of the block. It adds forty seconds on foot and removes the risk of a car circling.
