The character of Clapham
The Common gives Clapham its shape: through-traffic bends around it on Clapham Common North Side and South Side, both of which double as the A3. Venn Street and the Old Town are pedestrian-heavy on weekend evenings, and cars queue rather than push through. Parking on the Pavement is short-stay only, so the car generally waits on a side road off Rectory Grove or on Clapham Common West Side and comes to the door on request.
- The car waits off Rectory Grove and moves to the Old Town on your call.
- The Pavement is short-stay only; do not expect kerbside waiting there.
- Common-side roads slow markedly during fairs and festivals on the Common.
- The Congestion Charge zone does not reach Clapham; it is accounted for only on journeys into it.
