The character of Brixton
Electric Avenue, Atlantic Road and the market arches are pedestrian-dense through the day, and Brixton Road itself, part of the A23, carries constant bus traffic. A car cannot realistically wait outside the market entrances, so we use Coldharbour Lane side turnings or the streets around Brixton Hill. On Academy event nights, Stockwell Road becomes the more reliable holding point than anything closer to the venue.
- The market arches and Electric Avenue are not usable for waiting during trading hours.
- Coldharbour Lane side turnings are the usual holding point for a town-centre pickup.
- On Academy show nights the car holds on Stockwell Road, further from the doors.
- Brixton Road is part of the A23 and carries heavy bus traffic through the day.
