The character of Carlisle
The streets around the Castle and Tullie House are compact, with English Street and the pedestrianised centre carrying most of the daily footfall. Bitts Park along the River Eden gives a wide, easy stretch for a quiet collection. The immediate Cathedral approach is narrow and shared with pedestrians for much of the day, so a chauffeur normally holds on English Street or nearby rather than parking directly outside.
