The character of Kendal
The town centre runs along a single main street with narrow yards leading off it, largely pedestrian-priority and awkward for casual waiting. Oxenholme station sits apart from the centre with its own car park, a genuinely easier meeting point than the town itself. The Auction Mart and the roads toward Windermere carry heavier traffic on market days and through the summer tourist season.
