The character of Petersfield
The town centre around the Square and the old Sheep Fair site is small and largely traffic-calmed, with narrow Georgian streets radiating outward. The A3 bypass keeps the through traffic well clear, so local roads move slowly but predictably. Heath Road and the station approach carry most of the commuter traffic, and short-stay parking near the Square fills during market hours.
- The Square stays busy with pedestrians through the day; the car holds nearby rather than on it.
- Bedales School collections use the designated visitor pull-in by prior arrangement.
- Station forecourt parking is limited at commuter peak times.
- Market-day mornings restrict access around the old Sheep Fair site.
