Castle Street and the streets around Farnham Castle run a short one-way system that is straightforward once learned, with Georgian shopfronts close to the kerb and limited waiting space during the day. The A31 bypass keeps the worst of the through traffic off the town centre entirely, running as a fast dual carriageway above the older streets. The Hog's Back itself is exposed to weather and can be genuinely difficult in high wind or fog.
