The character of Godalming
Godalming's High Street kinks and narrows enough that larger vehicles struggle to pass each other, and much of the historic centre near the church and the wharf is best approached on foot from a nearby car park. Charterhouse's own grounds are extensive, with several gates serving different parts of the school, so knowing which one a booking needs matters as much as the postcode. The surrounding lanes toward Hascombe and Hambledon are narrow and winding.

- The lanes toward Hascombe and Hambledon are single-track in places and slower than the distance suggests.
