The character of Blackfriars
The junction where New Bridge Street meets Queen Victoria Street and the bridge approach is one of the busier in the City, with buses, cycles and river traffic on the bridge itself all competing for the same short stretch. Blackfriars Station's northern entrance sits directly on the junction, while the southern entrance opens onto the South Bank side. We hold on a quieter stretch of Queen Victoria Street and confirm which entrance you need.
- The station has two entrances, one on each bank — confirm which you need.
- The New Bridge Street junction is congested from half four most weekdays.
- Cars hold on a quieter stretch of Queen Victoria Street rather than the bridge itself.
- River traffic occasionally affects the bridge approach during events on the Thames.
