The character of Vauxhall
The Vauxhall Cross gyratory carries traffic in several directions at once, with buses given priority through much of it. St George Wharf and the newer riverside towers have their own private access roads and porters who manage vehicle flow at busy times, which we coordinate with in advance. Older streets behind the gyratory, around Fentiman Road, are far calmer and better suited to a standard doorstep wait.
- Riverside tower pickups are coordinated with building porters in advance.
- The gyratory is avoided on the return leg where a quieter alternative exists.
- Fentiman Road and streets behind the gyratory suit a standard doorstep wait.
- Vauxhall Bridge slows notably northbound during the evening peak.
