The character of Torquay
The harbourside and the seafront hotels along the front carry heavy visitor traffic in summer, when parking is scarce and cars generally wait on a side street rather than directly outside. The streets climbing toward Warberry Hill and Wellswood are steep, narrow and occasionally single-track. Union Street and the town centre behind the front are a more conventional grid.
- Seafront hotels are busiest at check-in and check-out times through the summer season.
- Streets toward Warberry Hill and Wellswood are steep and occasionally single-track.
- Harbour-area evening bookings are held nearby rather than at the immediate quayside.
- Given the distance to the nearest major airports, honest long-distance timing is standard here.
