The character of Hartlepool
The Headland is reached by a single road in and out, past St Hilda's Church and the Town Wall, and parking there is limited and largely residential. The Marina sits on reclaimed dock land with wide modern roads and ample space to hold, which makes it the more straightforward half of the town to work. Church Street and the town centre carry heavier local traffic and slow noticeably on a Saturday.
- The Headland has a single approach road; cars allow extra time and park where residential restrictions permit.
- Marina pickups use the wide dockside roads, which hold cars comfortably close to the door.
- Church Street and the town centre slow noticeably on a Saturday; we build this into the timing.
- Historic Quay and museum visits are treated as timed collections rather than kerbside waits.
