Terraces, permit bays and the practical kerb
The residential streets between the Fulham Road and the river are narrow, parked on both sides and subject to controlled parking through the working day. A car cannot sit outside a door waiting. Chauffeurs arrive to the minute and, on the tightest streets, approach from the end that allows them to stop on the same side as your entrance.
Several of the newer riverside developments towards Sands End and Wandsworth Bridge Road have gated forecourts with barrier access and their own set-down bays. Where that applies, we ask for the building name and the gate arrangement in advance, because a chauffeur held at an intercom is a chauffeur who is late through no fault of his own.
