The character of Camden
Bloomsbury and King's Cross have wide Georgian streets that carry heavy through-traffic and metered or controlled parking throughout. Camden Town's junction at the Britannia is one of the borough's genuine bottlenecks, particularly on a market weekend. Hampstead and Highgate are a different proposition entirely: steep hills, narrow lanes and driveways rather than kerbs, where a chauffeur needs to know the turning before reaching it.
- Camden Town's Britannia junction is a known bottleneck, especially on a market weekend.
- Hampstead and Highgate favour a car that waits on level ground, not on the hill itself.
- Bloomsbury's squares are mostly controlled parking; the car holds on the perimeter road.
- The southern edge of the borough sits close to the Congestion Charge boundary near Euston Road.
