The character of Worcester
The centre slopes down to the river, with the cathedral and the Commandery on largely pedestrianised streets and short-stay bays covering the rest of the historic core. The two railway stations sit a short distance apart on opposite sides of the centre, and confusing them costs real time. The Severn's water meadows occasionally flood in winter, which can affect the racecourse and the roads immediately beside it.
- Cars hold near the cathedral precinct or one of the two stations and move to the door on your call.
- Worcester Foregate Street and Worcester Shrub Hill are separate stations; we confirm which before setting a time.
- The Severn bridges are the most likely source of delay at either commuter peak.
- Racecourse fixture days bring extra traffic to the roads immediately beside the track.
