The character of Tower Hamlets
Tower Hamlets stretches from the City boundary in the west to the Isle of Dogs in the east, and its road character changes completely along the way: narrow Georgian streets near Bethnal Green, wide arterial roads through Bow and Mile End, and modern tower-block access roads around Canary Wharf. Victoria Park sits roughly at the centre, a useful reference point for anyone unfamiliar with how the borough fits together.
- Cross-borough bookings keep the same chauffeur regardless of how many neighbourhoods the day covers.
- The Congestion Charge only reaches the western edge of the borough, near Aldgate.
- Victoria Park is a useful central reference point for multi-stop routing.
- Aspen Way near Canary Wharf behaves very differently from the roads further west.
