The character of Redbridge
Ilford's town centre is dense and commercial, with the Exchange shopping centre and the market streets pushing waiting cars onto side roads rather than the high street itself. Wanstead and South Woodford are quieter and leafier, closer in feel to Epping Forest than to Ilford, with driveways more common than kerbside parking. The Redbridge roundabout, where the borough takes its name, is a genuine landmark and a genuine pinch point at once.
- Ilford town centre traffic is held on side roads rather than the high street itself.
- Wanstead and South Woodford favour driveway waiting over kerbside parking.
- The Redbridge roundabout is a genuine pinch point at almost any hour.
- ULEZ covers the whole borough and is accounted for in the quotation.
