The character of Portstewart
The Promenade itself is narrow with limited stopping space, particularly at the harbour end where cafes and the golf clubhouse compete for the same short kerb. Residential streets set back from the front are calmer and easier for waiting. Portstewart Strand's own access road and dune car park are managed separately by the National Trust and are not a place to hold a car for long.
- The Promenade has limited stopping space, tightest near the harbour cafes.
- Portstewart Strand's dune car park is managed by the National Trust, not a waiting point for a car.
- Residential streets set back from the front are calmer for a scheduled collection.
- The nearest railway station is Coleraine, a short drive rather than a walk.
