The character of Derry/Londonderry
The walled centre is compact and largely pedestrianised around Shipquay Street, so cars hold just outside the walls rather than inside them. The Waterside is more open but the Craigavon Bridge and the newer Peace Bridge, a footbridge only, both feed traffic onto a single approach that queues at the evening peak. Guildhall Square and the riverside quays handle event traffic well when a car is booked to wait rather than to loop.
- Shipquay Street and the walled centre are largely pedestrianised — the car holds just outside.
- The Peace Bridge carries pedestrians and cyclists only; vehicle pickups use the Craigavon Bridge approach.
- Guildhall Square events close the immediate square — the car waits on the surrounding streets.
- Waterside office addresses generally allow kerbside waiting outside peak hours.
