The character of Otley
Otley Market Place and the streets around the parish church are busy and narrow, with market stalls further reducing space on trading days. Cars hold on Bridge Street or Boroughgate and come forward on request rather than waiting in the square itself. The Chevin road climbing south out of town is steep and wooded, single-track in places, and best avoided for a waiting car.

- The Chevin road is steep, wooded and single-track in places — not used for a waiting car.
- Rail connections run via Burley-in-Wharfedale or Guiseley, not Otley itself.
- Market days add pedestrian and stall traffic to the town centre through the morning.
