Brook Street and The Grove are narrow and busy with pedestrians through the day, so cars hold on a side street and come to the shopfront on request. The roads climbing toward the moor and the Cow and Calf Rocks are single-track in places and unsuitable for a car to wait on directly. The Old Bridge over the Wharfe narrows traffic at the eastern edge of the town.
