The character of Hamilton
The town centre sits above the river on rising ground, with Hamilton Town House and the Low Parks Museum close to the main shopping streets. The M74 runs on the eastern edge, wide and fast, with junctions 5 and 6 the main access points for the town. Chatelherault Country Park, on the southern edge, has its own car park rather than street pickups, and race days bring heavy but short-lived congestion around the course.
- Chatelherault Country Park has its own car park rather than street kerbside.
- Race nights at Hamilton Park bring heavy but short-lived congestion near the course.
- Hamilton Central allows direct kerbside collection for rail-connecting clients.
- M74 junctions 5 and 6 are the usual delay points, not the town centre itself.
