The character of Farringdon
Charterhouse Street and the roads around Smithfield are working streets until late morning, with meat lorries and loading that leave little room for a waiting car before ten. Farringdon Road itself moves steadily but narrows near the station, where taxi and bus activity is heaviest. St Bartholomew's Hospital has its own access road, used for patient collections rather than general parking. We generally hold on Cowcross Street or a quieter turning off Charterhouse Square.
- Charterhouse Street carries market traffic until mid-morning — early pickups are confirmed the evening before.
- Cowcross Street is the usual holding point when the station forecourt is busy.
- St Bartholomew's Hospital has a dedicated access road for patient collections only.
- Farringdon Road narrows near the station — we avoid it at the commuter peak.
