The character of Devizes
The Market Place is large enough to absorb a fair amount of traffic and short-stay parking, which makes it one of the more straightforward town centres in the area to work. The streets leading off it narrow quickly, particularly around St John's Alley and the older lanes near the castle mound. The Kennet and Avon Canal cuts close to the centre, and towpath areas are pedestrian rather than vehicle access.
- The Market Place has ample short-stay space, one of the easier town centres nearby to work.
- Towpath areas along the Kennet and Avon Canal are pedestrian access only.
- Devizes has no railway station — road transfers to Pewsey or Westbury are routine.
- Caen Hill Locks draws visitor traffic on fine weekends, adding light delay on the A361.
