The character of Carmarthen
The town centre climbs from the river up toward the castle and the old county hall, with narrow streets and a one-way system that a saloon manages more easily than a larger vehicle. Nott Square and the surrounding lanes are pedestrian-priority through the day. Cars generally wait in the riverside car parks or near the bus station rather than in the historic core itself.
- Nott Square and the historic core are pedestrian-priority — cars wait nearby.
- Market days bring extra traffic on the western roundabouts we plan around.
- A saloon is the easier fit for the narrow one-way streets near the castle.
- Onward journeys west narrow to single carriageway almost as soon as you leave town.
