The character of Witney
Church Green, the town's central open space, gives Witney more room to work than most Cotswolds-fringe towns, with reasonable waiting space around its edges. The High Street itself narrows toward the old Buttercross and Blanket Hall, where kerbside space is tighter. Beyond the centre, the A40 carries fast through-traffic in both directions, the main road link for almost every booking that starts or ends here.
- Church Green offers more generous waiting space than most comparable market-town centres.
- The High Street narrows near the Buttercross and Blanket Hall, where the car holds a short way off.
- Witney has had no railway station since 1962; Hanborough and Charlbury are the nearest links.
- Cotswolds day trips are usually booked as a held car for the full day rather than a single transfer.
