The character of Stockport
Stockport town centre sits under its own famous railway viaduct, and the streets around Merseyway and the market place run one-way in a pattern that catches drivers who do not know it. Underbanks and the older cobbled streets are unsuited to waiting. The wider borough, toward Bramhall and Heaton Moor, is easier: wider roads, better parking and a shorter run out to the M60.
- The one-way system around Merseyway and the market place needs advance planning.
- Underbanks and the older cobbled streets are unsuited to a waiting car.
- Bramhall and Heaton Moor addresses are easier for kerbside collection.
- The M60 near the Cheadle junction is the main constraint on airport timing.
