The character of Macclesfield
The town centre climbs noticeably from the Silk Museum up toward the parish church, with several streets too steep or narrow for comfortable waiting. Modern business parks on the edge of town, closer to the A523, are far easier for a driver. Heading east toward Tegg's Nose and the Peak District, roads narrow quickly and can be exposed in poor weather.
- The old town centre climbs steeply from the Silk Museum toward the church.
- Business parks near the A523 are easier for a driver than the historic centre.
- Roads east toward the Peak District narrow quickly and need care in winter.
- Roadworks or deliveries in the centre can slow things more than genuine traffic.
