The character of Pontefract
The town centre around the Buttercross and Market Place is compact, with narrow approaches from Ropergate that suit a car holding rather than circling. Baghill station sits on higher ground above the centre and has straightforward set-down space, while Tanshelf and Monkhill are smaller with less room to wait. The castle grounds are pedestrian-only, so collections there use the surrounding streets.
- Cars hold near Ropergate or the Market Place and move in on request.
- Baghill station has the most straightforward set-down of the three stations.
- Race days close roads around the course — a collection point away from the closure is agreed beforehand.
- The castle grounds are pedestrian-only, so pickups use the surrounding streets.
