The character of New Malden
The A3 dual carriageway splits New Malden roughly north to south, with slip roads and a flyover that take some local knowledge to use well, particularly around the roundabout where the Kingston Road and Coombe Road traffic merges. The High Street runs perpendicular to it and is busiest in the evening as the restaurants fill. Side streets off Blagdon Road and Cambridge Road are quieter and better suited to a waiting car.
- The car waits on a side street off the High Street and comes round once you message.
- Blagdon Road and Cambridge Road are quieter than the High Street itself for a pickup.
- New Malden lies inside the ULEZ, which is factored into the fare from the outset.
- The A3 flyover roundabout is the main pinch point for journeys leaving the area.
