The character of Lincoln
The lower city around the Brayford Pool and the High Street is flat, modern and easy to work, with the university campus and its waterside restaurants generating steady evening trade. Steep Hill and the Cathedral Quarter above it are cobbled, narrow and largely pedestrianised, so a car cannot simply pull up outside a shop or restaurant there. We agree a nearby meeting point, usually on Bailgate or at Castle Hill, rather than attempting the climb itself.
- Steep Hill and the Cathedral Quarter are pedestrian priority, so the car waits on Bailgate or Castle Hill.
- Brayford Pool has level, straightforward kerbside access for university and waterfront pickups.
- Graduation weeks bring extra footfall around the Cathedral and slower access to the upper city.
- East Midlands Airport transfers genuinely take over an hour, and we schedule for that honestly.
