The character of Isle of Dogs
Manchester Road runs the length of the peninsula and is the main route south, narrowing as it passes through Millwall and Cubitt Town. Aspen Way, on the northern approach, carries heavy traffic feeding Canary Wharf and can back up significantly at peak times. South Dock Marina and Mudchute give the southern half a genuinely different feel from the towers to the north, with quieter, more residential kerbside space.
- Manchester Road is the single main route south along the peninsula and can be slow to bypass.
- Aspen Way carries heavy Canary Wharf traffic and backs up at both standard peaks.
- South Dock Marina and Mudchute offer calmer, more residential standing space.
- The Greenwich Foot Tunnel is pedestrian only; a car crossing the river uses Blackwall instead.
