The character of Frome
Catherine Hill and the surrounding lanes are cobbled, steep and largely pedestrian-priority, so cars wait at the bottom of the hill rather than attempt the climb. The Market Place and the streets around the parish church have moderate short-stay parking. The roads out toward Longleat and Trowbridge are more open once clear of the town centre itself.
- Catherine Hill is steep, cobbled and largely pedestrian — cars wait at the foot of the hill.
- The monthly Frome Independent Market closes several central streets to vehicles for the day.
- Longleat visitors are usually collected from the house or safari park entrance, agreed in advance.
- The Market Place area has moderate short-stay parking for shorter pickups.
