The character of Forest Hill
Dartmouth Road and London Road carry the local shops and most of the through traffic, both narrow enough that a stationary car causes a genuine hold-up. The streets rising towards the Horniman are steep and largely resident-permit parking. Forest Hill's own one-way sections around the station keep buses and cars from meeting head-on, but they mean a pickup sometimes approaches from a different direction than expected.
- Dartmouth Road and London Road are narrow — a stopped car holds up the whole street.
- Streets nearest the Horniman are steep and mostly resident-permit.
- One-way sections near the station mean the car may approach from an unexpected direction.
