The character of Derby
The centre is compact and increasingly pedestrianised around the Cathedral Quarter and St Peter's Street, so cars hold on the ring road or a nearby side street rather than at the door. Pride Park and the retail streets around Derbion generate their own queuing on event and Saturday afternoons. The Markeaton Island and Pentagon Island junctions decide most journey times into and out of the city, more than distance does.
- The Cathedral Quarter is pedestrianised in the centre, so cars wait on a side street nearby.
- Pride Park event days close the immediate approach roads for an hour either side.
- Business park pickups at Pentagon Island and Raynesway use the site's own forecourt.
- East Midlands Airport transfers are short enough that we still build in ten minutes of margin.
