The character of Southwark
Borough Market and Bankside are dense with pedestrians for much of the day, and cars hold on a side street rather than the market's own lanes. Elephant and Castle's road layout has changed considerably in recent years with ongoing redevelopment, and we keep the approach current rather than rely on an outdated route. Dulwich Village retains a genuinely quieter, more residential character, with fewer restrictions but narrower roads around the park.
- Borough Market's lanes are pedestrian-heavy; the car holds on a nearby side street.
- Elephant and Castle's layout is still changing with ongoing redevelopment nearby.
- The borough's northern edge sits within the Congestion Charge zone.
- ULEZ covers the whole borough and is accounted for in the quotation.
