The character of Purley
Purley Cross, where the main roads meet, carries constant through-traffic and is not a place to wait. The residential streets around Russell Hill and Woodcote are calm and well suited to a standard doorstep wait. Purley Way, the retail corridor toward Croydon, generates its own traffic at weekends but is largely separate from the town centre itself.
