The character of Hitchin
The market square and the historic streets around it are narrow and, on market days, closed to general vehicle access. Cars hold in one of the nearby car parks and walk in where the square itself is in use. The residential streets further out, toward Bearton and Highbury, are wider and more conventional for a scheduled pickup.
- The market square closes to vehicles on market days — the car holds nearby.
- Hitchin Lavender pickups run from the farm's own car park during flowering season.
- Tilehouse Street and the historic core suit a saloon over a larger vehicle.
- Station pickups use the short-stay bay outside the entrance.
