The character of Hanwell
The Uxbridge Road drops steeply down towards the canal and climbs back up towards Norwood Green, and it is the one road in Hanwell that genuinely queues at peak times. Three Bridges, where the road, railway and canal all cross within a few dozen yards, is a tight, awkward junction that a driver unfamiliar with it can misjudge. Streets off the main road, particularly around Brent Lodge Park, are calm and easy to wait on.
- The Uxbridge Road hill and Three Bridges junction are the two points that decide timing.
- Streets around Brent Lodge Park are quiet and easy for a car to wait on.
- The canal towpath area has no vehicle access — pickups happen from the road above.
- Hanwell sits within the London ULEZ, included in the quoted fare.
